Winter Olympics appearances (overview)

Iran (officially called the Islamic Republic of Iran) is currently competing at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy, from 6 to 22 February 2026.

Iran's team consisted of four athletes (two per gender) competing in two sports.[1]

Cross-country skiers Danyal Saveh Shemshaki and Samaneh Beyrami Baher were the country's flagbearer during the opening ceremony.[2][3]

Following the 2026 Iran massacres amid the 2025–2026 Iranian protests, activists called on the IOC to ban the Iranian team from the 2026 Winter Olympics.[4][5]
