Madan Prasad Pariyar is a Nepalese Climate & Agriculture expert, and the president of Samata Foundation who is currently serving as the Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development in the interim cabinet of Prime Minister Sushila Karki since 22 September 2025.[1]
He graduated in agricultural engineering from the Allahabad Institute of Agriculture in India and completed his Master's and PhD in Agriculture and Food Engineering program from Asian Institute of Technology School of Environment, Resources and development (SERD) in Bangkok, Thailand. He has done in-depth research on climate adaptation, poverty alleviation, economic growth, inclusion, good governance, information technology, rural and agricultural development, industrial development and resource management.[2][3]
In 2011, Dr. Pariyar chaired the High-level State Restructuring Suggestion Commission appointed by then prime minister Baburam Bhattarai when the Constituent Assembly was writing the constitution. The eight-member commission, comprising experts from diverse fields, submitted recommendations for state restructuring.[3]
