John A. Rowan (June 3, 1896 – April 13, 1967) was an American football player.
Football career
Rowan played college football for the University of Tennessee and professional football as a back for the Louisville Brecks in the National Football League (NFL). He appeared in three NFL games during the 1923 season.[1]

Version 1. According to Pro-Football-Reference.com, Rowan was born June 3, 1896, in Decatur Township, Ohio, and died on April 13, 1967, in Belpre, Ohio.[1] The John A. Rowan with this date of death worked at the Visco Company in Parkersburg, West Virginia, and died at Parkersburgh Hospital from a heart ailment. The obituary makes no mention of a football career.[2]
Version 2. According to Pro Football Archives, he was born on July 19, 1896, in Cartersville, Georgia, had the middle name "Aiken", and died on February 20, 1978, in Karnes City, Texas.[3] The John Rowan with this date of death had two sons. The obituary makes no mention of a football career.[4]
