The 2026 Winter Olympics closing ceremony will be held on 22 February 2026 at Verona Arena in Verona, Italy. This will be the last Winter Olympics closing ceremony to be held in a stadium until the 2034 Utah Winter Olympics.

As mandated by the Olympic Charter, the proceedings are expected to combine the formal ceremonial closing of this international sporting event, including closing speeches, hoisting of the flags, the parade of athletes and the handover of the Olympic flag, with an artistic spectacle to showcase the culture and history of the current and next host nation, France, for the 2030 Winter Olympics in the French Alps.[1] It will be the first Olympics Games closing ceremony under the IOC presidency of Kirsty Coventry.

Proceedings

The Closing Ceremony will take place at the Verona Arena at 20:00 (CET) in Verona, Italy. It will be filmed by Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) and broadcast by International Olympic Committee's (IOC) Global Media rights holders.

Olympic Flag Handover Ceremony

The Mayors of Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo Giuseppe Sala and Gianluca Lorenzi will hand the Olympic flag over to IOC International Olympic Committee President Kirsty Coventry. She will then hand the flag over to Christian Estrosi, the mayor of Nice, France. The Olympic flag will be raised again on 14 July 2028 at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California.
