The 2025–26 American Eagles men's basketball team represents American University during the 2025–26 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Eagles, led by third-year head coach Duane Simpkins, play their home games at Bender Arena in Washington, D.C. as members of the Patriot League.

Previous season

The Eagles finished the 2024–25 season 22–13, 13–5 in Patriot League play, to finish as Patriot League regular season co-champions, alongside Bucknell.[1] They defeated Lafayette,[2] Colgate,[3] and Navy to win the Patriot League tournament championship, earning the Eagles their first NCAA tournament appearance since 2014.[4] In the NCAA tournament, the Eagles would receive the #16 seed in the East Region,[5] where they would be defeated by fellow #16 seed Mount St. Mary's in the First Four.[6]

Preseason

On October 15, 2025, the Patriot League released their preseason poll. American was picked to finish fourth in the conference.[7]
